The Coast Christmas trees are up and Santa is on his way. It’s definitely time to start buying gifts for the people you want to spoil this year.
We asked Morart owner Debbie Morgan to pick her favourites from the store’s large collection of unique New Zealand artwork and gifts. She’s covered off a range of budgets and has found something for everyone!
For the home
Home has been our haven this year and everyone loves something that brightens up their special space.
One of our most popular gifts this year has been the gorgeous hand-made ceramic hydrangeas make by a Whakatane artist. They come in two sizes - Small (13cm-15cm) $110, and large (18cm diameter), $200. They are too fragile to ship so you can only buy them in the store.
Camden Co Wheat Bags, $49.90, soothe aches, pains, sore muscles and tension around the neck and can be used hot or cold. Each one is scented with Camden Co's iconic scent infused with Sweet Orange.
If you are looking for a guy-friendly gift, check out these NZ Art Designs Kiwi Summer Coasters, $39.90, featuring your typical New Zealand holiday bach and caravans. They are the perfect resting place for a nice cool drink.
For the caffeine addicts in your life, check out this Flox Stainless Steel Coffee Cup, $37.90, a double-walled insulated coffee cup that will keep drinks either hot or cold for hours.
Jewelry is a great gift idea as it’s not something people often buy for themselves.

Another designer gift that’s easy to send is the NZ Birds on a Branch wall panel, $84.90. Cut from 4mm thick ACM (Aluminium Composite Material), it comes flat packed in three parts. Once assembled it’s 1.2m long. Michelle Bow’s Huia feathers, $29.90 each, look incredible hung on the wall individually or in a group. The feathers of the now-extinct Huia are held in high regard.
