Perfect the art of mixing a fantastic Latin cocktail and make your next party memorable by joining a cocktail masterclass at Coast’s El Cupo Cantina.

The next class, hosted by one of El Cupo’s in-house mixologists, is on Monday, 17 May, kicking off at 6.45pm. Tickets are available on the restaurant’s website for $45 per person and include the class, cocktail tastings and a meal.

Restaurant Manager Federico Jairala says El Cupo’s first cocktail class in April was a huge success.

“Our guests learned how to make a perfect Tepache Spritz. Tepache is a fermented sparkling drink with roots in Central and Latin America.

“Tepache comes from the Aztec language and means ‘drink made with corn’. However, nowadays popular Tepache fermentations are made from pineapple,” he says.

Federico has shared El Cupo’s recipe for making a Tepache Spritz.

In a wine glass mix:

60 ml of homemade Pineapple Tepache

10 ml of lime juice

10 ml of sugar syrup.

Top up with ice and soda water. For a stronger alcoholic flavor, you can add beer, as they do traditionally in Mexico, or your favorite liqueur. El Cupo uses Agwa liqueur.
